Stream Garden Retreat Centre (Suan Saai Naam in Thai) is situated in southern Thailand, a tropical paradise of densely wooded hills, perennial streams, sunny beaches, and warm turquoise-blue seas. Away from the bustle of daily preoccupations, cares, jobs and routines, the tranquility and extraordinary natural beauty of Stream Garden's location are ideally suited to its intention that is inspired by the teachings of J Krishnamurti. This intention is best expressed in his own words:
I think it is essential to go to retreat, to stop everything that you have been doing, to stop your beliefs and experiences completely, and look at them anew. You would then let in fresh air into your minds. Wouldn't you? Stop being a member of some society. Stop your rituals, take a complete retreat from all those and see what happens. Have a complete break with the past and see what happens. Sirs, do it and you will see delight.
This Retreat Centre is a project of the Anveekshana which is a non-profit, non-sectarian, religious trust created to engage people in the exploration of the deeper issues of life.
There are no organized activities and schedules, lessons or instructors to engage visitors and guests. There is only their own interest and seriousness to guide them. However informal discussion can happen with the other guests and people living at Stream Garden.
